Last week ten members of the Cake Solutions team headed to Copenhagen for the European leg of Scala Days 2017. We love this event, mixing with 1,000 other members of the Scala community, sharing ideas, listening to great talks and catching up with old friends. As long time sponsors of the event we are as well known for the great coffee we bring as we are of our technical excellence. We handed out micro books, took a VR headset with us which allowed attendees and potential future employees to take a virtual look around our office and gave away the incredibly popular spinners!

Cake was honoured to be once again a key partner in the Scala eXchange 2016. This is our fifth year of being heavily involved in the event, which is the largest Scala event in the UK. Two members of the Cake team had talks at the event, 15 members of the team attended the event, and we were a major sponsor.
I hope you enjoy the short video summary from a Cake perspective.

Scala Days 2016 in Europe & in the US are over for another year, but what incredible conferences they were - the biggest and best yet! One thousand people attended Berlin and five hundred attended the conference in New York. As always Cake had a strong presence at both, in terms of talks (see below) and the Cake stand, supported by twelve members of the Cake team. Oh and we must not forget the great coffee our friends from Noble Espresso provided the attendees!

The Radio-frequency identification (RFID) development community initially coined term the Internet of Things (IoT) in 1999.  IoT is emerging as the third wave of evolution of the Internet.

  • The 1990s’ fixed Internet wave connected 1 billion users

  • The 2000s’ mobile wave connected another 2 billion.

  • The IoT has the potential to connect 10X as many (28 billion) “things” to the Internet by 2020, ranging from bracelets to cars.
