The technology stack we use from day to day whilst on the job tends to be a large part of our lives as developers. Whether you’re working with imperative or functional languages, vanilla Javascript or a language that compiles to it, SQL or NoSQL, there will likely have been a point where you stopped and wished you were using something else in that part of the stack.

The quote by Henry Ford, “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success” was something I first saw a number of years ago as a student. The simplicity of the wording and importance in the message struck a chord with me in realising the necessity of teamwork and collaboration in successfully completing goals. The message still rings true today and can be seen in most, if not all, successful teams around the globe.

One of the most noticeable attributes of everyone at Cake is the burning desire to acquire, assimilate and utilise as much knowledge about what we do for a living as we can – it’s an addiction in good sense.

This came up as we were closing-out a recent stand-up meeting on an agile project, when the team were excited about some of the functional programming ideas we’d come up with. I love this place…my knowledge increases every day said one of the team, and this got me thinking about why Cake is such a great place to work – we live and learn and do great stuff – and we get paid for it too!
