This week in #Scala (27/10/2011)

There’s not a huge amount to tell you about this week, just a few things of note – feel free to drop me a mail or message @cakesolutions or @markglh on twitter!

  • Evan Chan has released a Scala DSL for Nathan Marz’s Storm real-time compilation system. Storm can be described as “Hadoop for realtime systems”, check it out here.
  • Cobalto Labs have released ScalaPrimavera version 0.1, a library which attempts to bring the power of the Scala language to the Spring Framework.
  • The official scala documentation has been given a facelift and is definitely worth checking out, the documentation also now includes the Scala style guide, originally created by Daniel Spiewak (@djspiewak) and David Copeland (@davetron5000).
Finally, I’d like to point out some resources which may help people who are just getting started with Scala. Checkout this great presentation by Graham Lea on the top 10 reasons java programs envy Scala and these tutorials and screencasts to help you get to grips with Scala.
