I would also like to welcome onboard three new members to the Cake team, Alex, Carlos and Hugh. They bring with them a wealth of experience and enthusiasm so I am sure they will enjoy the new exciting projects that they are getting stuck into!

We had a fantastic Agile Financial Model event in Birmingham, a big thanks to our hosts Robert Walters. The video and slide deck can be found here.

I am also pleased to share some of our latest technical blogs with you so I hope you enjoy them and please follow us on Twitter @cakesolutions to keep up to date with the latest news and blogs from Cake.

Blog: Lift JSON & java.util.Set[_]

My last article, Akka eye for the Spring guy, infuriatingly glossed over marshalling and unmarshalling. It turns out that these are difficult problems in statically typed languages. You need to tell the compiler about the types of things you will be receiving at runtime. With REST and Spray, that's not too difficult, because the URLs determine the type of the input data. Blog: This week in #Scala (29/06/2012)

Welcome to another week in #Scala. My highlight for this week is certainly the quick and dirty prototyping datastore, cagette (which curiously seems to be the French word for 'crate'.. Are crates quick and dirty in France?). There's also a pretty interesting Functional Programming video interview who Sadek Drobi (of Zenexity) stars in. more...

We hope you enjoyed the update and feel free to contact myself if you would like to find out more.
