Pro Spring 2.5 Due 30 July '08

Feature

The Cake Solutions team have written a number of books on technical subjects in association with the publisher APress. By far the most popular was Pro Spring published in February 2006. Jan Machacek, Aleksa Vukotic and Anirvan Chakraborty have just finished writing the follow up, Pro Spring 2.5, which is due to be published 30 July 2008.

Other subjects written about include Velocity, Struts, Oracle 10g and we even managed to squeeze in a .NET book before we moved over to the dark side.

If you would like a sneak preview of Pro Spring 2.5 some of the chapters we would be happy to e-mail them over to you. Please contact Guy Remond or Jan Machacek.

See below for more details on each of the books.

Cake Solutions Blogs

Check out the new posts on our team blogs

Feature

During the course of 2008 the Cake team will write frequent technical blogs either linked in to the project their currently working on, a particular technical interest or a summery of one of our weekly technical meetings.

Every week someone from the Cake team puts together a presentation for the rest of the team on a pre-agreed technical subject, this allows us to decide if a particular technology is suitable to be added to the Cake toolset or if it's a technology we have to be aware of to help us make better decisions on future projects. Forthcoming technical discussions include GigaSpaces, Ruby on Rails and Swing. Click through to one of the team blogs below:

Cake in the Community

Feature

Cake is committed to putting something back into the North West community, this is why we have supported the Variety Club North West and Prostate Cancer Support for a number of years now.

Guy Remond sits on the committee for the Variety Club in the North West as Appeals Chairman. He was asked to join the committee to help move the charity into 2008 using digital media to improve efficiencies in the administration of the charity and improve it's marketing in this increasingly commercial world.

Cake has redesigned the Variety Club North West's website and enabled events to be booked online. The next stage is to add more back office functionality in the form of an online database and e-mail marketing system.

"Opportunities lie where contacts and content meet"

Every organisation generates content but little of it sees the light of the day. We need to open a window to that content. We need to combine our content with our database of contacts and customers to generate more opportunities.
