26 May 2012. Presented by jan Machacek, Technical Director (Cake Solutions)
Beurs van Berlage Damrak 277 1012 ZJ Amsterdam The Netherlands (Add to your calendar).
Training: "Scala in Spring Tutorial"
Track: Parallel Languages / Time: Saturday 09:00 - 16:00 / Location: Room 6
Jan's tutorial will show how to start using Scala in Spring applications. You will build a traditional three-tiered application using Spring 3.1 DI, MVC, ORM, transactions with Hibernate 4 thrown in. We will construct the application entirely using Scala; starting with Java-like Scala code, then applying the functional and type safe features of Scala to the codebase. We will use BDD throughout the implementation.
You will learn how to write Spring-based code entirely in Scala. The code you will have at the end of the day will give you a good starting point for adding Scala to your Spring-based [Java] code.
Audience: no Scala experience necessary; some experience of the Spring Framework is required. The attendees should be keen to try new approaches and keen to learn new things. Mac, Linux and Windows computers are OK; the tutorial's files will include the Maven 2 repository with all required dependencies, evaluation version of IntelliJ IDEA 11.1, the lab--project we will build as well as the completed version of the lab project. You will need JDK 1.6 or 1.7, Maven 3, and Tomcat 7.
